Social Media Gives New Twist to Tabernacle Choir’s 2013 Tour

Even though the roots of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir go back 165 years, the world-famous group is keeping up with 21st century technology. The choir and Orchestra at Temple Square are currently in the middle of a 10-day tour of the Midwest United States, and for the first time ever, the audience gets to choose the show’s encore by texting or tweeting. The contest is just one aspect of the venerable institution’s effort to connect with a younger generation through social media.

Frances J. Monson, wife of Thomas S. Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, passed away at 6:35 a.m. this morning in a Salt Lake City hospital surrounded by family. She had been hospitalized for several weeks and passed away peacefully of causes incident to age. Sister Monson was 85 years old.

Angel Moroni Statue Placed on Ogden Temple

Construction crews placed an angel Moroni statue atop the Ogden Utah temple temple spire Tuesday morning. The 14-foot, 2-inch figure is the same statue that topped the temple before it was closed. The statue was removed at the beginning of the project and completely reconditioned.
