The first member in Slovak Republic was Valerie Ruzena Frantiska Zizkova, born to Church members in the Czech Republic and baptized July 1939, just before the missionaries departed the country prior to World War II. Others Slovakians were later baptized as expatriates in Germany and elsewhere. The first meeting of Church members in modern times in Slovakia was held in October 1991. The first branch (a small congregation) of the Church in Slovakia was created in Trencin under the direction of President Richard W. Winder of the Czechoslovakia Prague Mission on 24 January 1993. A second branch was created later that year in Bratislava. Missionary work in the country resumed in 1992. Translation of basic Church materials into Slovak began in 1994.
