Latter-day Saints and their neighbors in São Paulo were invited to participate in a fair in December 2012 with several volunteer organizations.

In the Fall 2012 issue of Philanthropy Magazine, Naomi Schaefer Riley (a former Wall Street Journal religion reporter) accurately describes the inspiration for the Church’s welfare and humanitarian aid programs, what the programs do, whom they serve and how Mormons fund these vast operations.

While marveling at the size of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ new 570,391 square foot Bishops’ Central Storehouse (dedicated at the end of January), Naomi Schaefer Riley, writing in the Wall Street Journal, calls the new edifice “a symbol of strength and self-sufficiency.”

This month the United States Senate unanimously passed a resolution recognizing the 75th anniversary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Welfare Program. Aside from noting the program’s historic anniversary, the resolution congratulated, “the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the significant contribution that its Welfare Program has had on United States citizens and many people throughout the world; and commend[ed] the many efforts made by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its members, through its Welfare Program, to serve others regardless of religious affiliation.” The full text of the resolution can be read here.

Welfare Services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was honored 10 November 2011 along with other community leaders by Catholic Community Services of Utah (CCS). The Deseret News reported on the event.

The October 2011 edition of The World Report, a semiannual report of news events around the world pertaining to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon), is now available.

The Utah Chapter of Operation Smile recently recognized The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the 75th anniversary of its welfare program and gave thanks for the faith’s support. The praise came at the organization’s fund-raising breakfast in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 20 September 2011.

The Salt Lake Tribune recently profiled a new Deseret Industries store recently built by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sugar House, a neighborhood in Salt Lake City. We provided  information about the dedication and opening of the store in June.
