Mormon Tabernacle Choir Easter Concert to Feature Handel’s Messiah

In a very rare performance, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Orchestra at Temple Square will present Handel’s Messiah in its entirety. The Easter performance will coincide with Good Friday, 18 April, and Saturday, 19 April 2014, at 7:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle and will also be the first time in 10 years that the full choir and orchestra will perform at the Easter concert. Mack Wilberg, music director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, will conduct the event.

Over the weekend, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square presented two concerts held in conjunction with community-wide Pioneer Day celebrations in Utah.

Mormon Tabernacle Choir to Live Stream Pioneer Day Concert

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir will provide a live stream of the Saturday evening edition of its 2013 Pioneer Day concert. Saturday’s show begins at 8:00 p.m. MDT at Motab.org/Pioneer2013; Friday’s show, which will not be aired live, starts at the same time.

Tabernacle Choir Sings Final Note on 2013 Tour

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square are headed home to Utah after 10 days on tour in the Upper Midwest United States. The choir and orchestra performed in Minneapolis on 20 June after earlier stops in Columbus, Ohio; Indianapolis, Indiana; Chicago, Illinois; Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin.

As part of its upcoming tour, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will stop in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, on 19 June to honor the history of Mormon loggers in the area. Choir members donated the funds to erect a commemorative historical marker.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s music, including the popular Music and the Spoken Word weekly broadcast (the oldest continuing nationwide network broadcast in America), is now available on demand and archived on the choir’s new YouTube channel.

At the conclusion of this Sunday's broadcast of Music and the Spoken Word, the Choir will sing "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" to outgoing choir president Mac Christensen, who has served as president since 2000.
