Search Engine Expert: “We Could Learn From the Church”

During his keynote at SES Chicago 2010, Avinash Kaushik, a website analytics evangelist and author said The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has “done a marvelous job…of doing great SEO (search engine optimization)." In an interview following his keynote address, Kaushik noted that the Church’s LDS.org website ranks high in a Google search for “church” and that Church websites use a great deal of diversity in keyword terms to attract significant traffic. “We could learn from the SEO work that the LDS Church has done,” he said. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints puts an enormous amount of effort into providing content on the Internet. That content includes resources for its members on LDS.org, a site for those seeking to learn about the Church on Mormon.org, information for the news media and the public on Newsroom.lds.org and a site for those doing genealogical research at familysearch.org. Search engine optimization is a powerful way for the Church to help its audiences find the extensive web resources it has produced.
