Rise and Shine … Faithfully

Some 206,400 students across the United States have begun a new year of seminary — a voluntary scriptural education program in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Approximately 363,300 students are enrolled worldwide.

Seminary, a program for high school students, focuses on one topic for each of four years — Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon and Church history.

This week, The Florida Times-Union featured students in the Jacksonville area who are participating in the local seminary program.

"It's something I look forward to in the morning because it brightens up your day before you go to school," Alyssa Chvala, a student, said.
