The last week of the Savior’s life, His crucifixion and resurrection, as described in the King James Version of the Bible are portrayed in a series of film vignettes by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) entitled The Life of Jesus Christ.
The free videos were released during the month of March, including the newest ones today, “The Laying of the Lord’s Body in the Tomb” and “The Savior’s Resurrection.” “He Is Risen” will be available Wednesday, 4 April 2012, just before Easter Sunday, 8 April on BibleVideos.lds.org. Other videos now available include: “Triumphal Entry,” “The Last Supper” “The Intercessory Prayer,” “Christ in Gethsemane,” “Peter’s Denial,” “The Savior’s Trial before Pilate,” “The Scourging and Crucifixion” and others on Christ’s ministry.
President Henry B. Eyring, first counselor in the First Presidency of the Church, introduced the videos and how and where they were created during the First Presidency’s Christmas Devotional last December.
“The objective… has been to remain true to the scriptural text,” said President Eyring. “Like the scriptures, which these short films follow faithfully, they may seem to you quiet. Your faith and the Holy Ghost will create the emotion these world-changing events deserve.”
The videos are available in English, Spanish and Portuguese and will expand to other languages at a later time.
The Life of Jesus Christ Bible Videos mobile app has recently been expanded to be available on the iPhone and select Android (such as Kindle Fire) platforms. The updated iPad version has additional experiences that allow users to learn and explore more about the context of these scenes from the Savior’s life. This app is offered for free through the Android Market and Apple Store. (Watch a video that gives a tour of the Bible Videos app.)
